When Tanya was brought to Lakehome, her introduction to Lucien both
pained and thrilled her -- he reminded her so much of the younger
brother that had left her life when she'd been ripped from her home by
the robbers who abused her and made her the distrustful, disfigured
woman she is today.  Despite her tough nature and horrifying ordeal,
there is a deeply hidden soft spot inside her that Lucien brings out.
Some days, the last vestiges of her femininity seem wrapped up in her
care of Lucien.  Though she might never be able to put the words
together to express it, she is grateful he is there for her
ministrations.  Too, she has a sense of wanting to guard him as she
couldn't guard herself those years ago.  She wants him to be safe to
make up for her loss of safety.
