The Library at Lakehome

As is often the case with me, I'm researching more and getting bored, so I'm tweaking stuff. In this case, the Library is, I think, Summae heavy. So, I'm going to break some down into different types.

Unless noted otherwise, spells are on individual scrolls.

Lakehome has Almost No Mundane Library

New Spells

Boring the Sturdy Shaft, PeTe 35 with Mu prerequisite
R: Near, D:Sun/Inst, T:Spec
After casting the spell, the magus may bore a tunnel through solid rock, or anything softer. He walks forward and the stone before him is blasted to dust, and the walls are hardened into firm stone, if they are not already. At intervals of every 3 paces, the earth forms a supporting arch of hard stone. The mage may advance up to thirty paces. He may create steps or level changes as he walks, and even spiral staircases if he is careful. The destruction of the tunnel is permanent, but the hardening of the supports and walls lasts only Sun, unless Vis is expended. Unless the rock is very hard to begin with, the tunnel will become very dangerous if the supports and walls revert to their natural form. Minor Side Benefit: The tunnel and supports are carved into pleasant forms that usually reflect the magus' sigil. The tunnel is arched, with flat floors, about 3 paces high and two paces wide.

Disarming the Enemy, PeTe 30
R: Far/Sight, D: Mom, T: Group
This spell simply rusts all rustable metal on the targets to dust. Naturally it is intended for use on a group of armed enemies. Metal weapons, metal armour and so basically dissappear. Wooden weapons, non-rusting metals (like silver and gold) are un-affected. Note the group is the people and all the metal they bear is affected.

Gnashing the Earth's Teeth, MuTe 35 (Re)
R: Near/Sight, D: Sun/Year, T:Spec
Aimed: +3 (-6)
Like the Teeth of the Earth Mother, this spell causes spiky pillars of marble to spring out of the earth to skewer or imprison foes. This spell is designed to work in tunnels and the pillars spring out from all the walls. Because of the restricted space, it is usually very easy to target (+3) and skewered foes will take +25 damage, with possibly more on subsequent rounds if the victim struggles. On a targeting roll of 10+, the victim is skewered by two pillars. However, outdoors or in a large cavern, the spell is greatly limited. The targeting roll is -6, and may only be used to try to skewer a foe, not entrap them.

Making the Lofty Cavern, PeTe 40 with Mu prerequisite
R: Near, D:Sun/Inst, T:Room
Similar to Boring the Sturdy Shaft, this spell allows the magus to create a "room" around him. From where he stands, he gestures and indicates to show where the walls be and the height of the ceiling and so forth. As with the Sturdy Shaft, the walls are hardened and support structures are left and hardened. The "room" thus created can be quite large, although concentration rolls of 6+ are needed to continue creating the room once a fairly small room has been made - perhaps a 15 feet cube. The Storyguide should determine how many rolls will need to be made before the desired room is complete, and failing the roll will leave the room partially completed. Subsequent castings can continue the process (although if the longer duration is being sought, more Vis will need to be expended.)

Stone Ship of Terrus, CrTe 35 (Mu)
R: Near, D: Sun/Moon, T: Spec

This spell creates a small stone boat, maybe 15 or 20 feet long and four or five feet wide. The stone is magically light and will easily float. It can be rowed, or possibly could have a sail affixed to it. Terrus usually just uses spontaneous ReTe spells to get it moving in the right direction.

Voice of the Bird, MuAn 23 (Co)
R:Touch, D: Sun, T: Individual
Changes the Vocal Cords of an Animal to allow intelligible Human Speech. The spell requires a finesse roll of 8+ to create perfect Human Speech I.E. no spell minus. The amount the roll is missed by is the spell- casting penalty. The spell is terminated if the the shape of the target changes, for example if a Bjornaer casts the spell while in beast form, then returns to human form the spell is broken, and if they return to beast form they would have to cast the spell again.
